A Persian Shahsavan - from Hamadan, one of Persia's most well known rug weaving areas. There are over 300 rug producing villages surround the city of Hamadan - this is one of them.
The higher quality/ finer of the Hamadan rugs (known for their more distinctive designs) are: Mehribhan, Hosseinabad, Nanaj, Nahavand, Tafrish, Lillihan, Rudbar and Tajabad to name just a few.
Geometric in design & hard-wearing in quality as they can have a relatively thick and tough woollen pile.
