There are hundreds of Persian villages weaving carpets and rugs, it is still very much a cottage industry. Almost all have a wool pile and a cotton warp. Hossein Abad is one of the villages around the Hamadan area. Typically the colours used are deep reds and blues, the majority are geometric but on occasion you will find floral and animal motifs depicting the natural environment of the area.
