This is a Persian Nain runner. Nain is a town 150km to the east of Isfahan in central Iran. Very fine and precise designs were created due to the high quality of the workshops in the area. Nain rugs have a cotton foundation with a very soft wool or wool & silk pule. The workmanship is of the highest class and the knot density is also high (often more than one million knots per square meter).
Patterns with a medallion in the middle together with arabesques and floral motifs are common.
