The Lors and Baktiars are two Persian tribal groups who migrate in the Zagros north of the tribes from Fars. They produce rugs and flat woven articles. Fars region – a vigorous brightly colour geometric style with people and many small familiar animals. Pictorial rugs illustrating lions are also made to honour tribal leaders. The materials used for Shiraz and Quashgai: Warp – Wool, Weft – Cotton or wool and Pile – Wool.

The Persian Kashkuli tribe are close kin to the more well known Qashqai tribe. The Kashkuli tribe still lead a semi-nomadic life - mainly based in and around the Iranian town of Shiraz, and migrating into the mountains of the Fars province during the summer months. The Kashkuli produced rugs are known to be the finest rugs of all the nomadic community, with a limited number in existence (as compared with more well-known tribes). They are excellent quality and very hardwearing.

Tabriz rugs are from the city of Tabriz, the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province in the north west of Iran. It is one of the oldest weaving areas and makes a diverse collection of hand-knotted rugs. They are made with a good quality, fine, soft wool.
The term 'Raj' refers to the number of knots in a 70mm span. The higher the 'Raj', the more knots per m2, which is a higher quality of rug. They take longer to weave and more skill to get the design as intricate as they are.
