Soumak (or Soumakh, Sumak, Sumac, Soumac) is a tapestry technique of weaving   rugs and textiles. Soumak is a type of flat weave a little like a Kilim, but stronger and thicker. They have a smooth front fave and a ragged back, whereas a Kilim rug is rough on both sides.
