Why go camping if you can go GLAMping? Glamping has emerged as the buzziest of buzzwords in the outdoors. If you like the thought of reconnecting with nature by going camping but are not sure about the simple living arrangements, then perhaps you should try glamping.

There is something very satisfying about an elevated camping experience - you can enjoy the great outdoors and get a good night's sleep while you're at it. Glamping is the perfect solution to getting back to nature without losing the essentials.

You don’t have to go abroad to find the best glamping spots. We have some beautiful staycation opportunities here in the UK, from lavish treehouses and bell tents to cosy log cabins and a double-decker bus. There are some exceptional choices with added luxury, style, and fun. Staying in the UK also has another huge benefit: it is more sustainable than hopping on a long-haul return flight.]

First, you’ll want to choose a campsite. People love dropping their luxurious tents next to picturesque lakes, pretty wooded hills, and romantic beaches.

The great outdoors is the sound of birds tweeting in the trees, the scent of wildflowers and plants, rushing water from the stream, and the soft breeze blowing across your face. The thing to remember here is that you are creating a unique and unforgettable experience

Taking your modern comfort on the road allows you to stay in places that are off the map. You can cook on an open campfire instead of eating at fancy restaurants, or you can enjoy a few drinks under the stars rather than sat around a crowded bar. If you embrace the camping elements of your trip, it can save you some money.

BELL TENT, YURT OR TIPI

It’s time to ditch those old nylon tents you have hiding away in the shed! Shelter is the first step in creating your personalised glamping trip. Glamping involves feeling pampered, so crawling through a zipped-up hole to crouch into a sleeping bag is what you’re trying to avoid.

If you’re serious about glamping, then you might want to invest in a gorgeous bell tent. Yes, they don’t come cheap. But a good one should last you the rest of your days, as long as you store it properly and take care of it.

A yurt, tepee, and pavilion tent are all popular choices - building them yourself is easy once you decide which style you’re after. Alternatively, you can opt for a camper van or trailer, which will work just fine.

The key to glamping is a luxurious, comfy bed to retire to at the end of the day. Start with a comfortable base like a deluxe sleeping mattress. Make the bed with a duvet, soft layered blankets, and lots of cushions.

Complete the room with side tables, oriental rug, slippers, and your favourite reading material. Fair warning: You might have a hard time getting out of your tent in the morning.

LIGHT IT UP

Let there be light! Getting the right light inside your tent can transform the ambiance. Forget your old flashlight and lantern, the lighting in your space should be soft yet abundant.

If your camping pitch has power, then girl, light the heck out of your tent! Place lights in your tent and around the lounge area to provide maximum glamping feel with minimal effort. We're talking about fairy lights, rope lighting, and table lamps. If there’s no power, solar-powered lanterns or fairy lights add sustainable chic to your set-up.

Simple is the way to go: String lights up for a soft twinkly glow; there is nothing worse than all your creativity getting lost in the dark.

Have fun and get creative. To keep your feet warm and cosy many experienced glampers recommend laying down luxury area rugs in your tent. A vibrant patterned rug adds a nice touch to the look of the space, and it feels great on your feet in the morning.

Additionally, a rug will help enforce the no-shoes-in-tent rule and create an instant cosy feel about the space. If you have a nice large area inside or outside the tent, creating designated areas for relaxing, cooking, and sleeping is what glamping is all about. Floor cushions and beautiful oriental area rugs are a great way to separate the space and add comfort and glam.

Colourful rugs, fresh flowers, a small mirror, art prints, and other decorative touches truly take your site from camp to glamp. Here are some of our favourite rug choices for a flawless glamping experience:
