This handmade rug is a Senneh Kilim, from Iran. In the western part of Iran the province of Kurdistan is situated. Its capital today is Sanandaj, but in carpet context the older name is still used, Senneh. Rugs from the city of Senneh are super elegant, with a fine design and intricate patterns.
Kilim's are flat tapestry woven rugs. They are produced by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands of the weave to produce a flat surface with no pile.
