A Persian Nanaj - from Hamadan, one of Persia's most well known rug weaving areas. There are over 300 rug producing villages surround the city of Hamadan - this is one of them. 

The higher quality/ finer of the Hamadan rugs (known for their more distinctive designs) are: Mehribhan, Hosseinabad, Nanaj, Nahavand, Tafrish, Lillihan, Rudbar and Tajabad to name just a few.

Geometric in design & hard-wearing in quality as they can have a relatively thick and tough woolen pile.

Persian Bidjar are mainly woven by the Kurds in Gerus and Afsha areas in Iran. Bidjar rugs are pretty unique as they use two wefts instead of one, making the rug relatively heavy and extremely durable.

Kashan is one of the oldest cities in Iran. It is located in the centre of the country - in the Isfahan province. Stunning Kashan rugs have been crafted here since the 17th Century, during the Safavid dynasty. Kashan has beautiful architecture and the city is renowned for it's wonderful holiday homes. The rugs are among the most famous of all Persian rugs, and tend to be what most people think of when they hear the term 'Persian rug'. They are characterised by their central medallion on a red field, with a navy/ ivory border.

Der persische Kashkuli-Stamm ist eng mit dem bekannteren Qashqai-Stamm verwandt. Der Stamm der Kashkuli führt immer noch ein semi-nomadisches Leben - hauptsächlich in und um die iranische Stadt Shiraz und wandert in den Sommermonaten in die Berge der Provinz Fars. Die von Kashkuli hergestellten Teppiche sind als die besten Teppiche der gesamten Nomadengemeinschaft bekannt, mit einer begrenzten Anzahl (im Vergleich zu bekannteren Stämmen). Sie sind von ausgezeichneter Qualität und sehr strapazierfähig.
