Abadeh is situated on the road between Isfahan and Shiraz in the south of Iran. It has grown as picturesque market-town. The crafts industry is important in the historic city with some beautiful, high quality, rugs woven here.
Abadeh rugs tend to be based on a cotton warp and have a thin, tightly knotted pile. They have a very recognisable design: a single diamond shaped medallion in the middle, with smaller medallions in each corner The pattern: geometrical flowers or animals and the main colours are light reds or burnt orange on top of a dark blue background with green details.
